The Nathan McClain Gallery (www.natemcclain.com) preserves and promotes the artistic legacy of Nathan McClain (1973 - 1997). This entirely virtual Gallery's collections, exhibitions, and publications contribute to American contemporary art discourse and serve diverse communities. McClain is a rare artist who has posthumously impacted people, inspired action, and gained worldwide acclaim exclusively through his online presence.
Since opening in 2003, the Nathan McClain Gallery has:
* Welcomed more than 80,000 visitors from around the world
* Collected over 100 McClain paintings, watercolors, illustrations, and drawings
* Spearheaded a grassroots effort to save a massive McClain mural from demolition
* Held 1st posthumous McClain art exhibit "offline" featuring artwork from private collections
* Published 1st art book and calendar featuring McClain's artwork
* Been solicited by an international magazine to use a McClain painting on the magazines cover
* Received media assistance to search for a missing McClain painting
All of the above were done with limited resources and a staff of one person The Nathan McClain Gallery deserves your consideration for the story behind/beyond the "look and feel" of the site.
